Make IT count

I have been coming across people who are busy making plans for the long weekend because they have a mid-week off on a Thursday due to the elections taking place in Mumbai. All of these are educated adults, and only one word pops up in my mind to describe them– ILLITERATES!

Some say that no political party is worth their votes and all of them are equally bad. Agreed that politics in our country is more of a money churning enterprise and the rallies taking place are merely marketing gimmicks. But that doesn’t mean you run off leaving the country in pits. We are very good at blaming when it comes to others, but ask us to contribute a drop and we raise our hands in defeat. All we have are lame excuses in our kitty.

When we have to complain about power cuts, water shortages, potholes, rapes and the filthy politicians, we leave no stone unturned in abusing them and voicing our emotions to glory. But when we have a chance to elect the one we think is bearable, we go out on holidays and let others take care! I simply hate when people say, “What difference will one of my vote make?!” If everyone behaves with such selfishness, the day is not far when we will have a Hitler ruling us!

For once, we are being asked to make a decision for our country;
For once, we have the sole right to choose what we want;
For once, we have anonymity on our side;
For once, we are not under any obligation;
For once, your ink stained hand will make you dwell in pride;
For once, pressing a button is going to be of utmost importance;
For once, we have to queue in line for the country;
For once, let’s not be selfish and think for the larger good;
For once, let’s just ditch laziness and go out and VOTE!!

We exercise our rights of expression and speech when we are not pleased, this time its our turn to exercise our rights to VOTE

Make it count…Your vote that is! Don’t behave like a loser and drop everything down for an outing when you get a day off! For once, make use of the privilege that has been bestowed upon you and go and ink your finger, proudly! Go and VOTE!!!

    There is something called NOTA for people who don’t want to vote for any party contesting election. So now people really don’t have an excuse.

      It’s not really about excuse… But people are wary to vote just because of taking of pains to go out and vote.. They aren’t aware about how big this responsibility is!!
